Our Feb 21 Concert

Krystle Dos Santos
2x award winning Soul, Jazz, country/rock singer-songwriter Krystle Dos Santos is doing it all! From touring across the country (family in tow) with her cabaret musical, Hey Viola!, co-created with Tracey Power, to recording with Country/Rock band project, Orchard Sky, while 9 months pregnant, Dos Santos isn’t letting anything break her stride.
Dos Santos’ self-titled debut CD took home Urban Recording of the Year at the 2009 Western Canadian Music Awards as well as in 2020 for R&B Artist of the Year. Her unique blend of dance beats, funky grooves and soft, jazzy soul have inspired comparisons to modern Soultresses, Sade and Jill Scott, as well as the Jazz and Blues greats of the past, like Etta James and Sarah Vaughan.
Armed with a Performing Arts certificate in musical theatre, Dos Santos is a versatile performer with a stage presence that has been described as both commanding and powerful. Comfortable in intimate or full-blown arrangements, Krystle has performed on theatre and concert stages across the country from Edmonton and Vancouver International Jazz festivals, the Vancouver Folk Festival, Charlottetown Festival in PEI and at the Stratford Festival in ON.
Dos Santos performs with a full band, and seamlessly moves from one musical genre to another, effortlessly mixing musical styles resulting in an extremely unique modern fusion. Pair this along with Krystle’s larger-than-life personality and sultry, smoky voice, and you have a live show that is dynamic, interactive and unforgettable.

Our April 25 Concert - the last of this Season

Pharis and Jason Romero are pure craftspeople and top-notch musicians. They've won four Juno awards and seven Canadian Folk Music Awards, connecting with audiences through their music, lifestyle, and the sense of joy and ease that comes from this small-town renaissance couple. They live in the wilderness town of Horsefly, British Columbia where they write songs, learn old music, and work as renowned banjo builders J. Romero Banjos.

Their newest record Tell ‘Em You Were Gold was released on venerable folk label Smithsonian Folkways Recordings in June 2022. Made in an old barn Pharis & Jason spent years slowly restoring, and recorded in six days by a wood stove under northern lights, it’s a testament to the musical value and significance of their work. It’s built around the beauty of their banjos and the pair’s deep psychic and artistic connection, with conviction and delicacy - and stunning singing.
They play their own songs with the traditional music they have always sung, weaving well-known guests ( John Reischman, Grace Forrest, Trent Freeman, Patrick Metzger, Marc Jenkins) into some of their concerts. Their songs seem to come from easy and forthright places about traveling and rural life, but in their openness the songs are deeply moving and give the listener space for a unique and personal experience. There's time to become absorbed in Jason's solo banjo meditations, to move with the deep pulse of their guitar playing, to reflect on life’s beauty and knottiness, and to let the songs lift you into a state of well-being. They frequently bring out a desire to play banjo, to sing with another person, and to dig up the oldest, scratchiest record you can find and write a song just like it.

This April concert is going to be magnificent - one you do not want to miss. The four Junos and other awards they have won attest to the fact that they are incredible musicians - playing unique and BEAUTIFUL music. A memorable and noteworthy way to close off our fourth Season. WE SO ARE EXCITED TO HOST THEM!
Do NOT wait to get your tickets - as those people who already know their music are no-doubt going to show up in droves.
